Lifeguarding Certification Course
Blended Learning
Lifeguarding Certification Course fee: $250 (MARCH 11TH-MARCH 14TH)
Lifeguarding Review Course fee: $150 (MARCH 11TH- MARCH12TH)
Each participant taking the review course must hold a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
- The class fee is due at time of registration.
- This fee is non-refundable.
- Participants must attend all classes of the session.
- Participants must be able to complete the final written exams and in-water scenarios in order to receive the certification.
- EACH PARTICIPANT TAKING THE LIFEGUARDING CERTIFICATION COURSE WILL BE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE 7 HOURS OF ON-LINE MATERIAL BEFORE THE FIRST CLASS MEETING. ONCE THE CLASS HAS BEEN PAID FOR, YOU WILL HAVE ACCESS TO THE ON-LINE MATERIAL
Prerequisites:
Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing, using the front crawl and/or breaststroke.
Complete a timed event in 1 minute and 40 seconds:
- Swim 20 yards, retrieve a 10 lb. object from a depth of 7-10 feet, resurface and swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object. When returning to the starting point, the 10 pound object must be held with both hands and the face must be kept above the water.
Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. Candidates should place their hands under the armpits.

Additional Notes:
- Each participant will be required to download, print or purchase a copy of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Manual.
- If special accommodations must be made to complete the course, there will be an additional charge of $25/hour.
- Girls should wear a one-piece swimsuit.
- Long hair should be pulled back in a ponytail.

Water Safety Instructor Certification Course
Blended Learning
Class Fee: $287.00
The class fee is due at time of registration.
This fee is non-refundable.
Participants must be able to complete the final written exams
and in-water sessions in order to receive the certification.
The purpose of the Red Cross Water Safety Instructor course is to train instructor candidates to teach Learn-to-Swim courses and water safety presentations in the Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program to help course participants reach water competency and to learn to be safer in and around water. The Water Safety Instructor course trains instructor candidates by developing their understanding of how to use the course materials, how to conduct training sessions and how to evaluate participants’ progress.
Prerequisites:
- Be at least 16 years of age on or before the final scheduled lesson of this course.
- Demonstrate the ability to perform the following swimming skills:
- Swim the following strokes consistent with the Stroke Performance Charts, Level 3
- Front crawl—25 yards
- Breaststroke—25 yards
- Elementary backstroke—25 yards
- Sidestroke—25 yards
- Maintain position on back in deep water for 1 minute (floating/sculling)
- Tread water for 1 minute
