As severe storms hammered the city, crews responded to many weather related emergencies in under 2 hours. As storms left the area, the night began to clear up to a beautiful sunset. All things changed around 9:20pm. All stations were dispatched to the TNT Church on the South Service Road due to a reported smoke coming from the building by a passerby. As Chief 80 crossed the Reynolds Road overpass, He could see fire from over a mile away and began assigning tasks for responding units. Both ladder trucks arrived and set up elevated master streams, while both engines caught plugs and supplied the trucks. Truck 31 and Engine protected exposures (MAIN CHURCH BUILDING), while trying to save the church offices. Crews worked hard into the morning before bringing the fire under control. Additional personal were called in for this fire to staff other engines to protect the city, which Alexander and Collegeville fire assisted with that task and responding to other calls during this incident. Fire Investigators determined that the church was struck by lightening, which caused the fire.
