Friday Focus

Keep Bryant Beautiful

During the 2012 town hall meetings I was honored to have Meaghan Vanderpool join me and discuss with residents her vision of creating an organization that would focus on increasing litter prevention, and to promote beautification and community involvement.

Through those meetings, her vision turned into a reality and soon after Keep Bryant Beautiful was created and hit the ground running with various projects throughout the city.  Some of that hard work paid off last year they received their certification through Keep America Beautiful and received national attention for the great progress they have made.

Just a few of the projects that KBB helps with organizing and implementing throughout Bryant are :  Adopt-A-Street Program, the Spring/Fall Cleanup, all of the Dumpster Day events you have seen, the community garden at Bishop Park, and various other improvement projects in the city.

I know this group of people, and I know that they do the work they do out of love for our city, I wanted to just take a moment and give them the recognition they deserve for the hours of work, the consistency of the organization, and the great job they do on the projects they assist with.  Thank you Keep Bryant Beautiful for being a model to our city on the kind of difference community involvement and volunteering can make!
