Search for our next Chief of Police
The search for the next Chief of Police for the City of Bryant has been underway since mid January. I feel confident in the applications that we have received and we are beginning to make strides in narrowing down the qualified candidates.
It has been my plan since taking office, to pull together a committee to assist me in finding our next police chief. It was important to me, and I feel to the city itself, to insure the next person who filled this critical role had the background, leadership skills and experience that is crucial to our fast growing city. What better way to do that, than to bring together a group of people, representing all of those qualities.
In February I announced the formation of that committee, comprising of law enforcement officers, city council member, city staff and a Bryant resident with law enforcement experience. Since the last update, I have met twice with the committee members.
The first meeting, held earlier this month, committee members assisted me in defining the criteria and questions we need to ask during the interview process. Our second meeting took place earlier today.
This meeting was critical in reviewing and ranking the applicants we have received. Now that this process has been completed, we will begin reaching out and setting up interviews.
We received strong internal and external applicants for this position, and I appreciate the support as we left the position open a bit longer than originally expected. This helped me in ensuring the city received both an experienced and diverse group of candidates. I believe we have done everything we can do to search for our next police chief.
I will continue to update you as this process moves forward, and I encourage you to continue reaching out to me with any questions or suggestions.
