City of Bryant, Saline County, Arkansas

Media Release

From the Desk of Mayor Jill Dabbs

September 8th, 2017

Last Spring, Bryant High School Art Students were commissioned by Mayor Dabbs to create several pieces of artwork to be displayed in city offices. Seven talented students in Ms. Brianna Peterson’s 2017 senior art class created unique works illustrating the city of Bryant in various ways.

From a portrait depicting a mid-century Bryant diner to another abstractly representing the county boundary, the students beautifully captured the essence of the city while utilizing their own individual styles and vision.

These pieces are the first products that will be created through a partnership between the city and the Bryant High School art program.

Among other projects this year, art students at the high school have been coordinating with the Bryant Fire Department to create a mural at the the main station (Station 1). The city also plans to develop internships and other opportunities for local maturing art students.

Thank you to the students who participated for their time and exceptional artwork: Jake Roedel, Johnnyangel Naveres, Dilcia Liva, Nicholas Hammonds, Taylor Hicks, Melissa Salas, and Casey Blankinship.    The artwork will be on display at Bryant City Hall for visitors to view.  If you have any questions about this project, or ways for your community group to partner with the city, please contact the mayor’s office at 501-943-0302.
